Meet the Maker: Throwback Threads

Her Why
🩷 The heart behind Throwback Threads
When I became a stay-at-home mom, I found myself navigating a season that felt a little lonely and unfamiliar. Looking for connection and purpose, I began spending more time with my Grandma Shirley, who had sewn her entire life and made a living with her gifted hands.
Grandma had always hoped one of her grandchildren would fall in love with sewing, and before long, I did. She passed down not only fabric and supplies, but also stories, wisdom, patience, and a love for creating things by hand. Through countless visits and cups of coffee, sewing became more than a hobby—it became a source of peace, joy, and connection.
Today, every piece I make carries a little bit of that legacy. At nearly 92 years old, Grandma still lights up whenever I bring her something new I’ve sewn. Bringing joy to her heart is one of life’s sweetest gifts.
Many of the fabrics I use are also part of that same passed-down collection from her sewing life, making each piece truly one of a kind and often very limited in quantity.
Throwback Threads is a tribute to those moments—the memories, the lessons, and the love stitched into every handmade piece. It’s a reminder that some things are worth carrying forward and passing down.
She is my inspiration, my biggest cheerleader, and the reason behind every stitch.
